Dental costs following an accident

The OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance is a medical insurance if you are staying in the Netherlands temporarily. The insurance reimburses unexpected medical expenses.

You will receive reimbursement for dental costs following an accident if:

  • the treatment is for the repair or improvement of the teeth
  • an authorised dentist or dental surgeon carries out the treatment

You will get reimbursement up to a maximum of €350 within the duration of your insurance.

You will not receive reimbursement for dentures.

If you have to go to the dentist for an existing ailment or complaint you already had on taking out insurance, we will not reimburse these costs. This also applies if you did not know you had the ailment or complaint at the time you took out the insurance.

An excess applies to OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance. If you incur costs which are covered by the insurance, you pay the first part of these costs yourself. Per period insured your excess is:

  • €50 if you are younger than 70 years
  • €100 if you are aged between 70 and 79 years
  • €200 if you are aged 80 and above

You are 33 years old. You trip and fall on your face. A piece of your tooth breaks off. The dentist suggests putting a crown on the broken tooth. This costs €595. You receive a maximum reimbursement of €350.

You can claim your medical expenses quickly and easily via My OOM.
