If you are coming to the Netherlands with an Authorisation for a Temporary Stay or you are waiting for a residence permit, you will not be able to take out Dutch national health insurance. With the OOM Provisional Residence in the Netherlands Insurance you will be properly insured for healthcare costs.
These are the most important features of the OOM Provisional Residence in the Netherlands Insurance.

If you are coming to the Netherlands to live or work and you cannot yet insure yourself for healthcare costs under Dutch national health insurance, OOM Provisional Residence in the Netherlands Insurance offers extended cover for medical expenses. Your insurance meets the demands of the MVV visa.
You can also take out this insurance if you are a Dutch national and are temporarily returning to the Netherlands.
If you already have health insurance in your home country that is also valid in the Netherlands, you may not need OOM Provisional Residence in the Netherlands Insurance. Bear in mind, however, that medical care in the Netherlands may be more expensive than in your home country. You may be confronted with high costs if you are uninsured or under insured. Ask your own healthcare insurer for further details.
You can only take out OOM Provisional Residence in the Netherlands Insurance if the applicant is a Dutch national and has a Dutch correspondence address. The insured person may of course have a foreign nationality.

You can take out OOM Provisional Residence in the Netherlands Insurance if you are younger than 70 years old on the commencement date. Choose the duration of the insurance, up to a maximum of twelve months. After that, you can take out insurance again, provided you are younger than 70 years old.
If you are 70 years or above, the OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance may be an alternative.

You can take out OOM Provisional Residence in the Netherlands Insurance online. Our health insurance is subject to medical acceptance. This means that you will first have to answer a few questions about your health and medical situation. We will assess your answers, to determine if we will take on this insurance. We may decide to insure you under modified terms and conditions.
If you are able to take out insurance with us, you will receive the policy within a maximum of 10 working days after the premium has been credited to our account. We may need extra information from you, in which case you will receive notification within 10 working days.
