For healthcare insurance you can choose from 3 types of cover:

Regular

Reimbursement for necessary medical costs including:

• Second opinion
• General Practitioner, medication and dressings
• Specialist care, ambulance transport and hospitalisation
• Aids following an accident
• Physiotherapy, manual therapy, remedial therapy and chiropractic treatment (maximum number of treatments)
• Speech therapy (maximum number of treatments)
• Psychotherapy (maximum number of treatments)
• Reimbursement of costs for personal medical transport
• Dental costs following an accident up to €350

Comfort

Reimbursement of all costs in the Regular cover, plus:

• Preventative medicine
• Alternative health care
• Glasses and contact lenses
• Orthodontics (up to age 21)
• Artificial/medical aids;
• Contraception
• Pregnancy, delivery en maternity care (after 9 months)
• Fertility treatment (after 12 months)
• Dental costs following an accident up to €475

DeLuxe

Reimbursement of all costs in the Comfort cover, plus:

• Unlimited physiotherapy, manual therapy, remedial therapy and chiropractic treatment
• Unlimited speech therapy
• Orthodontics (age 21 and above)
• Pregnancy, delivery and maternity care
• 1 body scan or complete preventive examination per 5 years
• Dental costs following an accident up to €600

The healthcare insurance includes SOS insurance and covers medical expenses as a result of war and kindred risk.

For healthcare insurance you can choose between an own risk excess of €0 / €250 / €500 / €1,000. The higher your own risk excess, the lower your premium. Sometimes there is a maximum amount or a maximum number of treatments covered.

Medical costs vary significantly per country. This is why we offer a choice of 3 regions:

You can take out OOM Dental Cover to supplement your healthcare insurance. You decide the insured amount (€350/€700/€1,050) per year. We will reimburse the following up to this amount:

• Six-monthly check-up
• Dental treatment as a medical necessity, such as diagnostics, prevention and dental cleaning
• Root canal treatment, crowns and bridges
• Fillings and anaesthetics

You will not receive reimbursement for cosmetic treatments, such as teeth whitening. There is also no own risk excess for OOM Dental Cover insurance.

SOS Insurance includes cover of the costs of repatriation (return to the Netherlands), or evacuation if treatment is not possible locally and cannot be postponed. SOS Insurance also covers costs due to war and kindred risks.

If you have taken out OOM Living Abroad health insurance, SOS insurance is included, so you do not have to take this out separately.

There is no own risk excess for this insurance.

The travel insurance applies to all insured persons on the policy and includes cover for:

• Theft, loss or damage to luggage, with a reimbursement of from €1,500 up to a maximum of €4.500, depending on your choice
  Repatriation (return to the Netherlands) due to:
  - A life threatening situation, or death of a 1st or 2nd degree family member who is not travelling with you, e.g. parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother or sister
  - Serious damage to your house, household contents or business in the Netherlands
• Standard cover for digital/electronic devices up to €500; you can take out extra cover for an insured amount of €500 / €1,000 / €2,000 / € 5,000

In some instances, a maximum amount may apply, or you may have an own risk excess.

If you have a claim, in most cases, we will reimburse the replacement price. However, this is not always the case. You are sometimes only reimbursed the current value. Please read the following carefully in advance: How depreciation works (pfd in Dutch).

The cancellation insurance applies to all insured persons on the policy. The insurance includes cover for cancellation and transfer costs, such as:

• The death of a 1st or 2nd degree family member (e.g. parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother or sister, which results in you having to return home as soon as possible
• If the accommodation you booked is damaged and is no longer suitable to stay in
• Your house or business premises is damaged, forcing you to abort your trip.

The insurance reimburses up to €2,000 or €5,000 per person (depending on your choice). It does not matter if you are travelling for business or for pleasure.

If you choose to include the additional reasons for cancellation, you will also be insured for: terrorism, contagious diseases, negative travel advice, natural disasters, unexpected strike, riots and disturbances.

There is no own risk excess for this insurance.

The household contents insurance covers damage to your household contents at an address abroad due to storm, fire or burglary. You decide the insured amount (€25,000/€50,000/€75,000 per event). The reimbursement is based on first loss. This means that in the event of a claim, we do not look at the actual value of the insured items. You will be paid the full claim up to a maximum of the insured amount.

There is an own risk excess of €250 per event. A maximum reimbursement applies to jewellery and audio-visual appliances.

If you have a claim, in most cases, we will reimburse the replacement price. However, this is not always the case. You are sometimes only reimbursed the current value. Please read the following carefully in advance: How depreciation works.

The third-party insurance reimburses costs as a result of injury caused by you as a private person to others, or items abroad up to €1,250,000. You are not insured for damage to items that you are renting or leasing, for example.

The legal assistance insurance covers the costs of legal support abroad and applies to all insured persons on the policy.

The insurance applies to claims from €175 and above. You can choose between Basic cover (for all destinations) or Top cover (for destinations in the EU, the US and the UK).

You can include legal assistance regarding your house in the Netherlands on the basis of property ownership or property ownership and rental.

ARAG will assess on our behalf whether the requested legal assistance falls under your insurance. If it does, ARAG will provide legal assistance and you can then ask them for permission to appoint local legal service providers. These costs will be reimbursed up to €15,000.

You may also choose a legal specialist in legal proceedings for which a lawyer/solicitor is not mandatory. If you choose a legal specialist outside of ARAG, we will reimburse the costs up to €6,000. You will not receive legal assistance for events you already knew about when taking out the insurance.

The personal accident insurance will make a single payment in the event of permanent disability or death following an accident. The payment will be:

• €25,000/€50,000/€100,000/€150,000 for permanent disability (you will receive a percentage of this amount, depending on the extent of the disability) and/or
• €5,000 / €10,000 / €25,000 / €50,000 in the case of death

The payment will be lower in the case of a motorbike accident.

Medical expenses following an accident are not covered by the personal accident insurance, but are covered by OOM Living Abroad health insurance.

The Living Abroad Insurance is for you if: 

• You are currently living or are going to live abroad. 
• One of the insured persons has Dutch nationality or is working abroad for a Dutch company.  
• You cannot keep your Dutch national health insurance, to make sure you still have proper insurance for healthcare costs.  
• You want to add to your Dutch national health insurance, for example because you’re going to a country where medical care is more expensive than in the Netherlands, or if you also want to be covered for plannable care. 
• You want to have the insurance against damages abroad, like you have in the Netherlands. 

OOM Living Abroad Insurance is taken out for an unlimited period. 

If you no longer need the insurance, you can terminate it on any day via My OOM. If you have already paid the premium for the period after the termination date, we will refund you the excess amount.

The premium for OOM Living Abroad Insurance depends on a number of factors. For example, your chosen cover, whether you still require mandatory Dutch national health insurance, and your age.
