OOM Verzekeringen offers two types of health insurance for people staying in the Netherlands temporarily: OOM Provisional Residence in the Netherlands Insurance and OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance.
What are the differences?
Are you coming to the Netherlands and are you waiting for a residence permit? With the OOM Provisional Residence in the Netherlands Insurance you will be properly insured for healthcare costs. Medical acceptance applies to this insurance. This means you will have to answer a few questions about your health and medical situation beforehand. On the basis of your answers, we will asses whether you can take out insurance.
If you are only staying in the Netherlands for a short time, for a family visit or just passing through, the OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance will insure you for healthcare costs. This insurance does not require medical acceptance. If you are not expecting hospitalisation, you may presume you will be able to take out insurance. Bear in mind that we will not reimburse medical expenses for an existing ailment or complaint you may have on taking out insurance.

Third party insurance
You may include third party insurance in both OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance and OOM Provisional Residence in the Netherlands Insurance. We will then reimburse damage you may cause in the Netherlands for which you are liable.
