Insure your parents when they come to the Netherlands
You are expecting a visit from your parents from abroad. You can insure them for unexpected medical expenses during their stay in the Netherlands with our OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance.
An example
Your parents live in Surinam and would love to come and visit you in the Netherlands. Of course you want to save them the trouble of incurring considerable medical expenses if they need to visit the doctor or hospital during their stay in the Netherlands. This is why you want to take out insurance for unexpected medical expenses for your father and mother.
This can be difficult if your parents are older as many insurers will not allow you to take out insurance after a certain age. An age limit does not apply to OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance.
Depending on the country of origin, a visa may be necessary for a short stay in the Netherlands. This is called the Schengen visa. OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance offers your parents cover for unexpected medical expenses and meets the demands of the Schengen visa.
Take out your insurance immediately
Medical acceptance does not apply to OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance; your parents will not have to answer any questions about their health. If you are not expecting hospitalisation, you may assume you will be able to take out insurance immediately.
No cover for existing complaints
OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance covers unexpected medical expenses. For example, the costs of treating acute appendicitis or a broken leg.
If your father or mother incurs costs due to an ailment or complaint which already existed before you took out insurance, we will not reimburse these costs. This also applies if your parent did not know they had the ailment or complaint at the time you took out the insurance.
You can add liability to your insurance. You will then be reimbursed for costs if your parents cause damage in the Netherlands and are liable.
