Why these changes as of 1 July 2025

We are a non-profit insurer. Our goal is to ensure that your premium remains sufficient to cover healthcare costs and claims — while maintaining the quality you expect from us. However, healthcare costs are rising faster than anticipated worldwide. Despite a previous adjustment on 1 January, that has proven to be insufficient. 

That’s why we are introducing additional measures as of 1 July. Not because we want to, but because it is necessary to keep the insurance affordable and sustainable for the future. We do this with a focus on quality and only take measures that are truly needed.

Maximum reimbursement for medical expenses (total cap)

 We are introducing a total cap: this is the maximum amount we reimburse per insured person per year for medical expenses. 

  • Standard: €1,500,000 per year 
  • Extended: €2,000,000 per year 
Discount for Dutch basic health insurance discontinued

Do you have Dutch basic health insurance? Until now, you received an extra discount on your premium. This discount will end as of 1 July 2025. The reason: the discount no longer aligned with the average amounts we paid out for claims abroad. As a result, some customers consistently paid less than we reimbursed in claims. To keep the premium fair for everyone and to ensure the insurance remains affordable, we have decided to discontinue the discount.
