Reporting or submitting a claim for healthcare costs

1. Hospitalisation or other medical treatment

  • If you need to be admitted into hospital or visit a medical specialist, always call the OOM Assistance Centre immediately on +31 (0)70 353 21 35, irrespective of if you’re in the Netherlands or abroad. For a hospital visit, you are in many cases required to request authorization. Read more about pre-authorization here.
  • For other medical treatments, you’re free to choose your own doctor or hospital. If you have an insurance card, show it when you’re admitted to hospital or when visiting a medical specialist. In many cases, we can settle the costs directly with your healthcare provider.
  • If you’ve already paid the costs yourself, don’t worry. You can claim these medical expenses via My OOM. Please submit your claim digitally.
  • If you’ve paid a deposit to your healthcare provider or have provided a deposit with your credit card, let the Assistance Centre know immediately.

2. Pregnancy and childbirth

Which costs for pregnancy and childbirth will be reimbursed depends on your insurance and cover. You’ll find more information on this in the policy terms and conditions.

If there are complications during your pregnancy or if you need to give birth, please note the following:

  • Call the Assistance Centre immediately on +31 (0)70 353 21 35.
  • The Assistance Centre will guide you through the medical process. If the costs are covered, they’ll arrange the payment. You only need to pay your own risk excess.
  • If you need maternity care, you need to pay the costs in advance. You can then claim these medical expenses easily via My OOM.
  • We no longer use paper claim forms, so please submit your claim digitally.

3. What’s important to note?

  • Make sure you have your policy number ready when you call the Assistance Centre. You’ll find your policy number in My OOM or on your insurance card. This speeds up the process and ensures faster handling of your report.
  • If the costs are covered, we’ll reimburse the amount remaining after deducting your own risk excess.
  • If the costs are the result of an accident involving another party, fill in the Accident Report Form (pdf) as well.
  • If something has gone wrong or if you have a complaint, please read our complaints procedure.
