2. Submit a claim under your Household Contents insurance

If you’ve incurred damage, for example water damage due to a leaking roof, damage as a result of a burglary, or an accident with a household appliance, let us know as soon as possible. You can contact us by phoning +31 (0)70 353 21 25 or by sending an email. State your policy number, so we can help you as quickly as possible.

3. Limit further damage

Try to limit the damage as much as possible. This will prevent the damage from getting worse and keep the costs manageable. This may also affect the amount of your compensation.

4. Report the matter to the police

If the damage is due to arson, burglary, theft, robbery or vandalism, report this to the police as soon as possible, but no later than 72 hours after discovering the damage. Always ask for written proof of your report. We need this document to process your claim.

5. Claim your costs online

If the damage is covered by your Household Contents insurance, you can submit your costs easily via My OOM. Submitting a claim under your Household Contents insurance is done digitally. This helps you claim the damage quickly without the hassle of paper forms.

6. Take into account your own risk excess

Bear in mind that OOM doesn’t reimburse the full costs of the damage. When taking out your Household Contents insurance, you select the amount of your own risk excess. This means you pay part of the loss or damage yourself.

7. Response within 10 working days

We aim to always reply as soon as possible. You’ll receive an initial response from us within ten working days of reporting the damage under your Household Contents insurance, but we often reply sooner.
