If you incur medical expenses for an ailment or complaint that you had before taking out OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance, we will not reimburse these expenses. This also applies if you did not know you had the ailment or complaint at the time you took out the insurance.

Your insurance and the Schengen visa

If you are travelling, are on holiday or are travelling through the Netherlands and you apply for a Schengen visa, you must prove that you are insured for healthcare costs in the Netherlands. The OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance meets this demand.

If you already have health insurance in your home country which also applies to the Netherlands, bear in mind that medical care in the Netherlands may be more expensive than in your country of origin. You may be confronted with high costs if you are insufficiently insured. The OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance could then be a supplement to your health insurance in such an instance.
