Medical transport

The OOM Studying in the Netherlands Insurance is a medical insurance for foreign young people who come to the Netherlands as a student, intern or au pair.

You will receive reimbursement for seated medical transport if there is a medical necessity. The transport must be directly prior to your visit to a General Practitioner, specialist or hospital.

We will reimburse:

  • public transport according to the lowest class tariff
  • the taxi fare
  • a maximum of €0.20 per kilometre if you travel in your own vehicle

We will reimburse a maximum of €185 per year insured (or during the period you are insured).

Other rules apply to transport by ambulance.

With the OOM Studying Abroad Insurance you can opt for no excess or an excess of €150. If you incur costs which are covered by the insurance and you have opted for an excess of €150, you then pay for the first part of the costs yourself.

You have to go to a hospital that is 100 kilometres from your place of residence 5 times for dialysis. You travel by taxi because you are too ill to travel by public transport. The costs are €80 per journey. The total costs are €400. If you have no excess, you will receive a reimbursement of €185.

You can claim your medical expenses quickly and easily via My OOM.
