The OOM Studying in the Netherlands Insurance is a medical insurance for foreign young people who come to the Netherlands as a student, intern or au pair.
What does the insurance reimburse?
You will receive reimbursement for the costs of an abortion if a doctor thinks this is a medical necessity or if the abortion is the result of a sexual offence.
Are there costs for you?
With the OOM Studying in the Netherlands Insurance you can opt for no excess or an excess of €150. If you incur costs which are covered by the insurance and you have opted for an excess of €150, you then pay for the first part of the costs yourself.
During your stay in the Netherlands you are confronted with sexual violence. You report this to the police and you have yourself examined by a doctor. A few weeks later you discover you are pregnant due to the sexual offence. You have an abortion in hospital. The costs are €750. If you have an excess of €150, you will receive a reimbursement of €600 if the abortion takes place within the duration of your insurance.
