The OOM Temporary Residence Abroad Insurance is a medical insurance for if you stay abroad for a longer period of time (up to a maximum of 2 years).
What does the insurance reimburse?
Whether you get reimbursement for physiotherapy, remedial therapy, chiropractic treatment and manual therapy depends on the cover you have chosen:
- Light cover: no reimbursement
- Regular cover: a maximum of 9 sessions
- Comfort cover: a maximum of 25 sessions
The maximum number of sessions applies per year insured (or period insured if you are insured for less than a year).
The maximum of number treatments applies to physiotherapy, chiropractic treatment, manual therapy and remedial therapy combined. If you have Regular cover, for example, and have already had 4 remedial therapy sessions, you are still eligible for a maximum of 5 physiotherapy sessions in the same year insured.
Are there costs for you?
With the OOM Temporary Residence Abroad Insurance you can opt for no excess or an excess of €250, €500 or €1,000. If you have opted for an excess and you incur costs which are covered by the insurance, you then pay the first part of these costs yourself.
You stumble and develop knee problems. You go to the physiotherapist and have 7 sessions. The total costs are €280. If you have Regular cover and no excess, you will receive a reimbursement of the total costs.
