The OOM Temporary Residence Abroad Insurance is a medical insurance for if you stay abroad for a longer period of time (up to a maximum of 2 years).
What does the insurance reimburse?
Whether you get reimbursement for medical aids depends on the cover you have chosen:
- Light and Regular cover: no reimbursement
- Comfort cover: the costs will be reimbursed according to the Medical aids regulations
You will get a reimbursement for medical aids if you have received prior permission from our medical advisor.
A different cover applies to the rental or purchase of medical aids following an accident.
Are there costs for you?
With the OOM Temporary Residence Abroad Insurance you can opt for no excess or an excess of €250, €500 or €1,000. If you have opted for an excess and you incur costs which are covered by the insurance, you then pay the first part of these costs yourself.
You are diagnosed with diabetes during your stay abroad and have to start injecting insulin. You buy an insulin pen. This costs €175. If you have Comfort cover and no excess, you will receive a reimbursement of the total costs if you have received prior permission from our medical advisor.
