Alternative health care
The OOM Temporary Residence Abroad Insurance is a medical insurance for if you stay abroad for a longer period of time (up to a maximum of 2 years).
What does the insurance reimburse?
Alternative health care includes osteopathy, homeopathy, anthroposophical medicine and acupuncture. Whether you get reimbursement for alternative health care depends on the cover you have chosen:
- Light and Regular cover: no reimbursement
- Comfort cover: a maximum of €50 per consultation and €500 per year insured (or period insured if you are insured for less than a year).
The alternative healer must be registered with an approved professional association in the country where you are staying.
Are there costs for you?
With the OOM Temporary Residence Abroad Insurance you can opt for no excess or an excess of €250, €500 or €1,000. If you have opted for an excess and you incur costs which are covered by the insurance, you then pay the first part of these costs yourself.
You have problems sleeping, are restless and nervous. You visit an acupuncturist. They suggest 6 sessions. The costs are €300. If you have Comfort cover and no excess, you will receive a reimbursement of the total costs.
