Hospitalisation or other medical treatment

In the Netherlands or abroad (except the US)

In case of hospitalisation or other medical treatment in the Netherlands or abroad (except the US) the following applies:

  • If you need to go to hospital in the Netherlands, let us know as soon as possible. You can do this by telephone (+31 (0)70 353 21 00) or by email.
  • If you need to go to hospital abroad (except the US), contact us as soon as possible at the OOM Emergency Centre on +31 (0)70 353 21 35.
  • If you need other medical treatment in the Netherlands or abroad (except the US), you can choose a doctor or a hospital yourself.
  • You first pay for the treatment yourself. You may then declare the costs using the Healthcare costs claims form (pdf) or online via My OOM.
  • If the costs are covered, we will reimburse the amount remaining after deducting your excess.

 

In the US

In case of hospitalisation or other medical treatment in the US the following applies:

  • Let us know as soon as possible. Call OOM Assistance USA.
    -Contact them from the US on +1 855 701 2029.
    -Contact them from other countries via the OOM Emergency Centre on +31 (0)70 353 21 35.
    Note: the OOM Assistance USA members of staff speak English.
  • Always show your insurance card to the health care provider. The health care provider will then see that OOM Assistance USA or one of its network partners will pay.
  • Do not pay any deposit. If you use your credit card as a deposit, let OOM Assistance USA know as soon as possible.
  • Do not pay any invoices. OOM Assistance USA will handle that. If you receive a payment reminder (statement), send it to OOM Assistance USA (GMMI, 1300 Concord Terrace, Suite 300, Sunrise, Florida 33323 USA). We can help you more quickly if you tell us your policy number.
  • If the costs are covered, you only pay us your excess.

Complications during pregnancy or giving birth

In case of complications during your pregnancy or giving birth the following applies:

  • Let us know as soon as possible.
  • In the US, call OOM Assistance USA.
    -Contact them from the US on +1 855 701 2029.
    -Contact them from other countries via the OOM Emergency Centre on +31 (0)70 353 21 35.
    Note: the OOM Assistance USA members of staff speak English.
  • Call the OOM Emergency Centre in the US via +31 (0)70 353 21 35.
  • The emergency centre manages the medical treatment. If the costs are covered, the emergency centre will organise the payment. You only pay us your excess.
  • If you need maternity care you must first pay the costs yourself. You may then declare the costs using the Healthcare costs claims form (pdf) or online via My OOM.

Note: If you have Standard or Extended cover valid for less than 12 months, we will only reimburse the costs if critical medical intervention is necessary. If you were already pregnant when you took out insurance, the costs of pregnancy are not covered.
