EHIC stands for 'European Health Insurance Card'. If you currently have Dutch national health insurance, you can use this card to show that you have health insurance in the Netherlands.

Our health Insurance policies do not fall under national health insurance; it is a private health insurance policy. For this reason, you will not receive an EHIC.

For our insurance policies for Dutch people abroad, you will receive an insurance card from us stating your policy number, the OOM Emergency Centre telephone number and other important information. This insurance card is not an EHIC card.

In principle, if you accumulate medical fees outside of the Netherlands, you must always pay them yourself first. These medical fees can then be claimed back from OOM Verzekeringen. Except if you're insured for the US, then reimbursement is arranged through the emergency centre OOM Assitance USA.

There is more information on the EHIC available on www.ehic.nl (in Dutch only).
