I’m going to travel in the Netherlands

If you’re going on holiday or to travel in the Netherlands, you cannot take out Dutch national health insurance for medical expenses.

Travellers from the EU or EEA

If you are from the EU/EEA and are staying in the Netherlands for a short period of time, for example for travel, a family visit or holiday, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) entitles you to necessary medical care in the Netherlands. You can apply for this card from EHIC or your health insurer in your country of origin.

Travellers from other countries

You must make sure that you are insured for medical expenses in the Netherlands. If you come from a country requiring a visa and need to apply for a Schengen visa, you need to show that you are insured for medical expenses in the Netherlands.

What does OOM Verzekeringen offer?

If you are staying in the Netherlands for a short time, for example for travel, a family visit or holiday, we offer OOM Schengen Visitor Insurance. The insurance offers cover for unexpected medical expenses and meets the requirements of the Schengen visa.
