Current information about the coronavirus and our insurance

Latest update: 23-07-2021

If you are visiting our website because your current travel insurance does not provide medical cover for corona in countries with code orange and red, you’re in the right place! Our Temporary Residence Abroad Insurance provides medical cover for corona-related costs in your holiday destination country, irrespective of the country’s colour code.

Please select healthcare cover. This is because our travel insurance does not cover medical expenses. We have several types of cover, but choose the cheapest. This is because your health insurance also covers worldwide emergency assistance. If you already have travel insurance, it will cover everything except medically related corona costs. For more information about the cover and the premium, or to take out an insurance policy, click on this link

Once you get to the application module, please fill in the application and the health questionnaire. You can then opt to get your insurance quickly by agreeing to a clause that excludes all existing complaints and symptoms from the cover. If you select this option, you will receive the policy in your email box as soon as possible.

You will automatically receive an English insurance statement with your healthcare insurance. If you are travelling to Costa Rica or Thailand, you will need an amended declaration. You can request this by telephone, after you have received the policy by email. Do not fill this in in the final question of your application, as this will delay your application.

We do our best to help you as quickly as possible. Below, you will find answers to more corona-related questions regarding insurance.

Your travel insurance with us will not reimburse these costs.

I want to book a trip to a country with code red or orange. Can I cancel my trip if the travel advice for this country does not change to code yellow or green?

No, these costs are not covered by the cancellation insurance. This applies even if the colour code has at some point been green or yellow. We will only reimburse cancelation costs in the case of unforeseen circumstances. At this moment in time, the coronavirus is no longer an unforeseen event.

Is the cost of a corona test (COVID-19 test) covered by my insurance?

We cover the cost of the COVID-19 test if you have corona related symptoms.

Our health insurance policies also cover other medical expenses related to the coronavirus. We do not cover the cost of a preventive COVID-19 test, such as a PCR test, which is often required in order to travel.

Will the cost of the corona vaccine be reimbursed?

Many countries are making the corona vaccine available. If you are staying in a country where the government is not covering the cost of the vaccine, we will reimburse you up to € 100.

Important! If you take out OOM Schengen Visitor insurance after 1 January 2021, you will not be covered for the vaccine.

I have tested positive for corona. Will my cancellation insurance cover my costs?

Yes, you are sick, so you can't and shouldn't travel. This is why we will reimburse your cancellation costs. In order to be able to do so, we need the results of your positive test first. Please send the test results when making your claim.
