Changes to terms and conditions and premiums 2019
What will be different from 1 January 2019?
From 1 January 2019, new premiums will apply to the health insurance and the travel insurance.
The terms and conditions for travel insurance will be completely renewed, and the terms and conditions for the cancellation insurance will be extended.

From 1 January 2019, the premiums for OOM health insurance will be higher. Click to see the new premium overview (pdf).
The premium for the OOM Dental Insurance with an insured amount of €350 has decreased with €24 per year. From 1 January children of 3 years and younger will be included in the insurance. The previous age limit was 2 years.

In the new terms and conditions, you can choose from one of three types of cover: Basic, Advanced and Excellent. This will enable you to tailor your cover to suit your journey. Insured persons who already have OOM travel insurance, will automatically be allocated Advanced cover. Among other things, we will reimburse the following costs:

Winter sports and money with Excellent cover

What are the new premiums for the OOM travel insurance? From 1 January 2019, the annual premiums (including insurance tax) for OOM travel insurance are:

Extra cover for digital/electronic devices
In the OOM travel insurance, digital/electronic devices are insured as a standard for €500 per persoon. You can increase the amount insured with ‘extra cover digital/electronic devices’ to a maximum of €5,000. The extra cover and the corresponding premium, apply per policy.

The OOM cancellation insurance has been expanded, while the premium remains the same. Below, you will find a summary of the main changes. For full details of what is covered, see the policy terms and conditions for the cancellation insurance (pdf).
Increased cancellation costs reimbursed under standard cover
From 1 January 2019, cancellation costs will also be reimbursed if:
- You are unable to have a vaccine that is compulsory for your travel destination, due to medical reasons
- You are unexpectedly unable to get a visa for your travel destination
- This applies only if this visa rejection is through no fault of your own
- You are unable to travel or you need to interrupt your trip because you are on a waiting list for an urgent medical intervention
- You unexpectedly need to provide urgent care to a 1st degree family member
- You are assigned a rented house prior to the start of the trip
- Note: You will need to provide evidence of this with an official rental contract
- You are buying or selling a house, and the transfer of ownership is due to happen prior to or during your trip
The premiums per year for OOM cancellation insurance are:

New: Cancellation insurance with extra reasons for cancellation
From 1 January 2019, it will also be possible to take out the cancellation insurance with extra reasons for cancellation. The cancellation costs will then also be reimbursed if your journey is cancelled due to:
• The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs issuing a travel advice with colour code orange or red
• A contagious disease (with demonstrable health risks for the traveller) in the region you are planning to visit
• Natural disaster (earthquake, fire (e.g. forest fire), storm, hurricane, tsunami, volcanic eruption) in the region you are planning to visit
• Terrorism in the region you are planning to visit
• Civil disturbance or riots in the region you are planning to visit
• A sudden unannounced strike.
