Standard coverage
Standard coverage covers major medical expenses such as:

-
dental treatment following an accident
-
repatriation, transport of mortal remains and Search & Rescue (SOS insurance)
Maximum levels apply in some cases for reimbursements or for the number of treatments. You can read more about this in the Coverage Summary.
Extended coverage
Extended Coverage covers:
-
all costs that would fall under standard coverage;
-
costs of pregnancy and childbirth (after a waiting period of 12 months);
-
medical costs related to fertility (after a waiting period of 12 months, and subject to a maximum);
-
psychotherapy;
-
getting a second opinion;
-
preventive medicine;
-
medical aids;
-
alternative healthcare;
-
orthodontics and dental treatment.
Maximum levels apply in some cases for reimbursements or for the number of treatments. You can read more about this in the Coverage Summary.
Where are you insured?
- Coverage in the Netherlands
- Up to 50 days’ cover for a temporary stay outside the Netherlands
Please note! There is a limited coverage in de United States (region A). Of any costs you incur in region A, only 50% will be covered.
What is the deductible?
A deductible for every insured person applies in both Standard Coverage and Extended Coverage. The deductible applies per year or — if shorter — for the entire period insured.
You can choose from a deductible of € 0, € 250, € 500 or € 1,000. The higher the deductible you choose, the lower the premium you will pay.
Coverage for war and associated risks
OOM Verzekeringen is the only Dutch insurer that provides standard coverage for war and associated risks. War and associated risks includes armed conflict, civil war, uprisings, domestic unrest, riots and mutiny. There is normally no right to the reimbursement of medical expenses as the result of war and associated risks. We insure these costs as well. The costs of war and associated risks are insured on a mutual basis. This means that you will be reimbursed the cost price provided there are sufficient resources in the ‘war and associated risks fund’. If there are insufficient resources in the fund, you will be reimbursed a percentage.
